Challenge for Charity (C4C)
The MBA Challenge for Charity (C4C) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that develops future business leaders with a lifelong commitment to community involvement and social responsibility. C4C draws on the talents, energy, and resources of MBAs from nine West Coast business schools: USC, Stanford, UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Irvine, UC Davis, UC San Francisco, Pepperdine, and University of Washington.
C4C was founded in 1984 by Duncan O'Brien, a Stanford MBA student, in order to raise money for Special Olympics, an organization which had a tremendous impact on the life of his sister. Since 1996, C4C has contributed over $5.1 million for Special Olympics and other local charities, as well as donated tens of thousands of hours of community service. C4C today remains the World’s Largest MBA Non-Profit Organization.
Each year, the nine West Coast business schools compete for the Golden Briefcase, an award for the school that achieves the highest fundraising dollars, volunteer hours, and final scores during the intramural sports weekend held at Stanford.
In addition to Special Olympics, USC Marshall C4C serves Junior Achievement and A Better LA. Marshall.PM contributes to C4C with tailgate participation.
