What is Corporate Liaisons?
Corporate Liaisons is a new 2011-2012 initiative created by Marshall School of Business MBA program in order to encourage professional organizations to provide our students with additional opportunities beyond the traditional summer internship category. These opportunities are in the form of “Independent Research Projects” and will help students gain relevant professional experience.
What is “Independent Research Project?”
Students are eligible to receive course credit by participating with organizations and obtain professional experience through independent research projects. For approximately 10 hours per week (depending on the size of the assignment), students will also periodically update the company on the progress of the project. Students can provide firms with strategic recommendations and written reports based on the research conducted for the organization.
Is there compensation for the students?
Depending upon the opportunity with the company, compensation is negotiable.
How long will an Independent Research Project last?
Each Independent Research Project will last for a semester. Students will need to enroll in GSBA 590 in order to receive course credit for the Independent Research Project.
How much time must a student be willing to commit to participate in the Independent Research Project?
Depending upon the company and the project, hours can vary week to week. Approximately 10 hours per week is allotted for each project.
Which course should students sign up for in order to receive course credit for independent research?
Please sign up for GSBA 590 and receive project confirmation from Dean Ansari(aansari@marshall.usc.edu) before open registration begins each semester.
How can companies participate and provide projects to Marshall students?
Interested representatives from companies can contact either Lisa Glouner (lisa.glouner.2013@marshall.usc.edu) or Eric Bahor (eric.bahor.2013@marshall.usc.edu) in order to begin the registration process.
