Junior Achievement (JA)
Junior Achievement of Southern California was established locally in 1954 as a part of JA Worldwide™ which was founded nationally in 1919. JASoCal serves over 100,000 students in ten Southern California counties annually: Los Angeles, Kern, King, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Tulare, and Ventura.
JASoCal is a volunteer driven, not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating students about entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness, through experiential, hands-on programs.
JA programs help prepare young people for the real world by showing them how to generate wealth and effectively manage it, how to create jobs which make their communities more robust, and how to apply entrepreneurial thinking to the workplace. JASoCal is dedicated to developing sustainable communities by teaching the economic relevance of staying in school. JA prepares today’s youth to be tomorrow’s leaders, businesspeople, and innovators by teaching kids how to be both financially responsible and entrepreneurially daring.
Each year, Marshall.PM contributes to JA by participating in:
Play 4 JA: A fun evening of bowling and socializing to raise funds for JA.
JA Day: A four-hour opportunity to teach JA elementary classroom programs to local kindergarteners through 6th graders. Themes are: Ourselves, Our Families, Our Community, Our City, Our Region Our Nation, and JA Global Marketplace.
JA Finance Park: A day-long simulation that allows 7th to 12th grade students to see, touch, and live the experience of personal finance in a real life setting of stores, shops and financial institutions.
